Wala umanong grounds para idiskuwalipika si ICC chief Prosecutor Karim Khan bilang prosecutor sa kaso ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Sa isang notice na ipinadala sa Pre-Trial Chamber 1 na may petsang Agosto 18, 2025, inihayag ni International Criminal Court (ICC) chief Prosecutor Karim Khan na wala umanong dahilan para idiskuwalipika siya bilang prosecutor sa kaso ni Duterte.
Ito ay matapos sabihin ng kampo ni Digong na maaaring ituring na “irreconcilable conflict of interest” ang pag-representa noon ni Khan sa mga biktima ng extrajudicial k!llings (EJKs) sa “war on drvgs” ng dating pangulo at sa kanyang papel ngayon bilang prosecutor sa trial ni Digong.
“The Prosecutor is not aware of any prior case in which the impartiality of the Prosecutor has been challenged on the basis of a prior involvement in an earlier stage of proceedings on behalf of one or more victims or a group representing the interests of victims,” saad ni Khan.
Sinabi rin niya na dahil kailangan umano sa mga prosecutor na maging ‘highly competent in and have extensive practical experience in the prosecution or trial of criminal cases’ at sa open competition para sa role ng prosecutor ay mataas umano ang posibilidad na magkaroon ng involvement ang mga applicant sa mga kasong iniimbestigahan ng ICC.
